HERE Maps – FAIL

HERE-mapsJust like the lousy new Apple maps, this highly touted app (HERE, by Nokia) has failed my litmus test – including the street that I work on.

Now granted it is street in a smallish place, but it has been “here” for at least 4-5 years.

Google maps has had it since it became a street.

Why can’t you?

Now I don’t trust you in other places.

Dumbest Quote EVER About a Business (Apple, in this case)

This in a New York Times article today called Apple Races to Keep Ahead of Rivals:

“If they start making products people don’t want, and start losing users, then Apple’s strategy will run into problems,” said Benjamin Reitzes, an analyst at  Barclays Capital. “If they continue to have an aura where their products are seen as defining the marketplace, they are going to be fine.

Has there ever been a business whose strategy was to “start making products people don’t want, and start losing users” ?

Why in the world did they quote that clown?

The iTunes-LAME Encoder combines the simple interface of iTunes with the high quality of the LAME encoder

iTunes-LAME
Trying to figure out how to convert the super-high bitrate FLAC files from some live shows somebody loaned me.  Have been using xAct to convert to AIFF for importing into iTunes. The only problem is that the files are HUGE.  I think this might be the ticket for squishing them down a bit. “The iTunes-LAME Encoder combines the simple interface of iTunes with the high quality of the LAME encoder“.
