{"id":866,"date":"2015-05-30T20:58:56","date_gmt":"2015-05-31T01:58:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/d-n-i.com\/tidbits\/?p=866"},"modified":"2015-06-10T10:13:51","modified_gmt":"2015-06-10T15:13:51","slug":"what-makes-me-think-that-the-apple-watch-is-a-dud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/d-n-i.com\/tidbits\/2015\/05\/30\/what-makes-me-think-that-the-apple-watch-is-a-dud\/","title":{"rendered":"What makes me think that the Apple Watch is a dud"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_868\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-868\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-868\" src=\"http:\/\/d-n-i.com\/tidbits\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/apple-watch.png\" alt=\"Apple Watch\" width=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/d-n-i.com\/tidbits\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/apple-watch.png 507w, http:\/\/d-n-i.com\/tidbits\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/apple-watch-225x300.png 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 507px) 85vw, 507px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-868\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Apple Watch with Stainless Steel Case<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/watch\/gallery\/#apple-watch-stainless-steel-case-milanese-loop\" target=\"_blank\">Apple Watch<\/a> is definitely a nifty thing. \u00a0A few of them aren&#8217;t bad looking, either.<\/p>\n<p>However, I believe that it (at least this version) is a dud.<\/p>\n<p>The most obvious sign\u00a0is that I was in an Apple Store today and only one of the store associates (or at they geniuses?) had one on. \u00a0In the past, with new Apple devices, they were among the first to clamor for new iPhones and iPads &#8211; often proudly wearing them on hip holsters and the like &#8211; always in a rush to whip them out and show off that they had the latest and greatest. \u00a0The vibe around them in the store is decidedly &#8220;meh&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The other thing, for me at least, is that I think that the creators of this product\u00a0were thinking too much about themselves\u00a0&#8211; the super-harried Silicon Valley Executive type who is running from meeting to meeting\u00a0and would love to save a few moments by glancing\u00a0at a watch for updates to their digital life &#8211; appointments, tweets, emails, etc. \u00a0I don&#8217;t think that they have knocked it out of the park, as they have in the past, for the rest of us.<\/p>\n<p>Looking forward to\u00a0the next version &#8211; would be nice to see them pull it off.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Apple Watch is definitely a nifty thing. \u00a0A few of them aren&#8217;t bad looking, either.
