From Companion to Honey Plants of North America

Jump to: navigation, search

I recently purchased the book Honey Plants of North America by John H. Lovell.

The information in the book is terrific. But, as it was created in 1926, the illustration are only Black & White photographs and maps. Though the author points out the great difficulty and expense to which he went to create them in the 1920's, the resources that we have available today are far superior. As a matter of fact, what non-professional photographers can capture with a simple digital camera is quite remarkable - and that is what I am hoping for with user contributions.

The idea behind this Wiki is to create a companion (not a supercedure) of the book so that contemporary beekeepers (and friends of bees) will be able to easily identify honey plants taking advantage of new (primarily digital) photographic technology.

In fact, we heartily recommend that you purchase Honey Plants of North America.
